He tries his best to report the truth and puts in a ton of effort.
"Now, the great dreaded thing every reporter lives with is what you don't know. The source you didn't go to. The phone call you didn't return. The back of the document you didn't look at."
- Bob Woodward
That quote by Bob Woodward seems to tell us how he feels about journalism. He seems to dreads the fact that there is so much we still don't know. As he said "The source you didn't go to." He will go to. "The phone call you didn't return." He will return." The back of the document you didn't look at." He will look at. That is the journalist job. The measures we take doesn't matter for truth to come out. A real, a true journalist will try his or her best to find the truth and tell the people every little detail no matter how big or small it is. The entire truth is important. Bob Woodward put in so much effort to publish the truth of the "Watergate scandal" and this caused the resignation of President Richard Nixon from numerous government investigations.
Another great journalist is Seymour Hersh. In the 1960's he broke out the story of the massacre of Vietnam civilization. This earned him the Pulitzer Prize. After that Hersh tried breaking the news of the CIA secretly spying on the U.S. citizens over attempts to overthrow the leader Chile. He did this while taking story tips for being a part of the New York Times staff. He is also a great journalist in my eyes. He reported the truth and went through great measures to retrieve evidence to back up his articles. I, myself would love to be like these two journalist. Maybe one day I can work my way up to being that important.
