Newspaper's Money-Make

You ever read a newspaper? Have you ever thought, "How in the world do they make money"? Well The could make money a few ways. They could do adds in the paper and get paid that way or the could charge the readers a certain amount. Have you ever wondered why the charged you twenty-five or fifty cents maybe more? It varies on where you live how much you are charged. But why do they charge in the first place an what happens if they can't make money that way? Well its simple really. Let's start with the question why do newspapers charge for publications.

Journalists needs to make money some how right? They try charging the community a few cents so the can give credible information. But what happens when the people refuse to pay? Well then we wouldn't have enough money to go on exposes of important key issues or afford printing off paper. One sheet of paper is nothing, but it multiplied within a ton of people is a lot of money and times. So what do we Journalist, Writers, and/or editors do when the community won't pay? Our funds are lowered and our ability to go places and receive credible information is harder to support, plus our prints reduces. Online people don't like to pay for news either. According to a survey, twelve percent of the U.S. paid for the news, the other eighty-five percent said they did not. I found the information from this source: http://www.cjr.org/the_audit/oxford_on_paying_for_news_onli.php .
“The pay-wall mirage: More are paying for news, but most aren’t and likely never will.” Said Mathew Ingram in a post headline because twenty percent of people said the will online, but that isn't real much out of a hundred percent.
"Paid content is a great way to make more money, but the real money is in advertising and marketing, don't ever forget it." From the source: http://www.ojr.org/ojr/business/1062025099.php .
There are pros and cons in advertising for money. According to the Readership Institute at Northwestern University, advertising is one of the top five drivers of newspaper consumption, but it may be harder for your reader to find what your writing because of the ads overwhelming your page. That is their best option for making money though it seems since not enough people in the U.S. community will pay for news.

What Is News?

News is what is going on in the world. Its information all around no matter what it is. As long as its facts and not opinionated it's true news. Think about it. Where do you get your news and what does it talk about? Some people say the internet, others say television or magazines and so on. Are their sources sited or quoted? Are what they say supported true facts? If the answer is yes for any of these then what your reading is true news. It could be about politics, wars, drug smuggles, danger to our community, terrorists, celebrity following (No gossip, be careful because some sources are unreliable and is just gossip), and other news.
I took the liberty of questioning what the believe news is. After asking Candy McDonald, 38 year old female what she believed true news was and she said, "Information around the world", I asked Christine Rice age 56 and she simply said, "Gossip". She doesn't seem to approve of the celebrity 'news' that well. I asked her why she believed it was all 'gossip' and here is what she had said, "People spread rumors about people to look interesting". When I heard this I kind of realized she didn't understand my first question, so I asked her about the weather and politics being gossip. This took her by he surprise. She changed her answer after that. "Oh, news is informative, it's just the magazines about celebrities is gossip."  I kind of agree with her, but this blog isn't opinionated so I can't judge. News to me is important information all around the world no matter what kind it is as long as it has facts and support surrounding the statement. Real news needs credibility, not judgmental opinions. That is how rumors start and why some true news today isn't believed or trusted because of all the false accusations eventually being proved wrong.
News need to be proved with sources, quotes, and evidence of any kind. Being a journalist you have to find these things. It is our job to deliver the news to you the people. Any news depending on our field of expertize. You may like local news or political news or even celebrity news. As long as they have proof of the information provided they can be considered true news. It's your choice to trust whomever you want to, but I'm just suggesting what true news may be and what you might want to look for. So what is news again? Well news is true information from anywhere or about anything in or out of this world, but with proof that supports what is said.
